Tuesday 26th of November the UK Investor Relations Society announced the winners of the 2008 Investor Relations Best Practice Awards at a ceremony at the Royal Hospital Gardens, Chelsea in London.
I was invited by our client Legal & General to be on their table as our work for the annual report 2007 has been shortlisted for the FTSE-100 award. BASF, another client of us, has also been shortlisted in the category “International”. Two reasons to be in London at that night! But what if only one of the reports would win? Would this finally lead to a disappointing evening?
Luckily for me, this didn’t happen as both our clients won their category and it became a terrific night! Now we are looking for clients to fit into the FTSE-250 and Small Cap/AIM catgories.
Voiceover text at the award ceremony:
“Legal and General win this award for providing the best balance between the printed and online annual reports. The company’s position in a complex sector is well explained. The online environment was commended by the judges for making the best use of online tools to enhance the experience of investors reviewing the annual report. The use of management interviews, closely tied to the content of the report itself, together with strong linkages and enhanced tools, were considered by the judges to effectively enhance disclosure and the online functionality was seen as beneficial for broader stakeholders as well as investors.”
“BASF’s annual report stood out in this category and demonstrated the company’s commitment to investor communications. In the printed and online reports, goals and Key Performance Indicators were clearly defined with every part of the business analysed in detail. A user of this report would have very few gaps left in their understanding of the business.”
Catching up with my story on rankings some weeks ago I want to add, that this is a paid-ranking. Legal & General as well as BASF decided on submission without our notice!
The comprehensible criterias are published on the website of IR Society.
